Naming a restaurant is like naming a child.
Especially if you use a baby book to do it.
We don’t know why (or how) Troy Graves (Tallulah, Meritage) christened his latest Gold Coast venture Eve — and frankly, we don’t care. There’s food to worry about after all.
Opening today for lunch, Eve offers contemporary, seasonal American fare: grilled lobster sausage with chanterelles, wild boar ribs with plum barbecue sauce, seared duck salad with drunken goat cheese and spiced cider vinaigrette, and smoked turkey sandwich with roasted garlic polenta. Portion sizes are perfect for a midday meal.
The lavish dining room — reflective glass mosaic walls, sparkly chandeliers — will be like flypaper to ladies who lunch.
Dinner service starts next week. Everyone who’s anyone will be there.
But we won’t drop names.
Eve, 840 North Wabash Avenue, at Chestnut Street (312-266-3383).
