Mythic Proportions

O Closet, Great Keeper of Garb, aid my enterprise. Hasten my hand to finery fit for tonight’s festivities. And make it snappy, O Venerable Vault, my ride’ll be here in ten.

What say you, Door Deity? A dress by Nomia?

Named for a mythological naiad, Nomia’s sleek designs can’t help but enchant — just look at designer Yara Flinn’s flirty frocks.

Using lace (moderately), organza, gabardine, and sandwashed silk, Flinn references flappers for fall 2008 with classic cuts offset by inventive details.

Ring in the New Year in a sheath with zigzagging fringe. A drop-waist dress with lace cap sleeves feels feminine, not sentimental. Or show off a sleeveless number embellished with a full skirt.

Each piece is ladylike but cool.

In a word, divine.
