The Kama Sutra, the Taj Mahal, Bollywood and, of course, Freida Pinto: there are a billion reasons to love India.
Here’s another: Dockmaster’s House, a dazzlingly chic Indian restaurant and bar that opens today in a 200-year-old Georgian building in Canary Wharf. With three stories of regal rooms plus a garden and conservatory, there’s plenty of space in which to hang.
Feast like a millionaire on Indian-inspired dishes by Navin Bhatia (Cafe Lazeez). Think baked tamarind halibut, lamb shank nehari or charcoal-grilled saffron prawns. Then hit the ground floor cellar bar and boogie on down (cheesy grin and head wiggle optional) to the resident DJ.
We hope it’s a swanky celebration you’re after.
You certainly won’t be slumming it.
