You watch what you eat. But choosing the skinny option on a menu?

Fat chance.

You’d rather eat at Barny’s Place. The new lunchtime fast food joint (eat in or take away) serves healthy but hearty food that’s fresh and unashamedly filling.

Charming owner Barny Stoppard (son of playwright Tom) sources seasonal and local ingredients from markets such as Smithfield Market to create salads, sandwiches and juicy burgers. Vegetarian options, meanwhile, include smoky tofu and mushroom (in a sandwich or salad) and Spanish tortilla, with rice pudding or Eton Mess for afters. There’s even a discount if you return the plastic lunch box they provide on deposit.

In terms of good-for-you street food, this place is heavyweight.

Without the heavy wait.
