You Auto Know

Your Taurus has covered more miles than Willie Nelson’s tour bus. And that backseat’s seen more action than Tommy Lee’s (well, almost).

Share your respect for solid hunks of metal with The Weld House. The Mesquite-based company takes reclaimed pieces from vintage American cars and handcrafts them into custom furniture.

First, browse owner Joel Hester’s inventory (current choices include a ’67 Buick Electra, ’85 F150, and vintage Chevy pickup) and then pick a style (e.g., accent, console, coffee tables). Can’t find the right rouge muscle car to match your living room? Patience, Hester will hunt it down for you.

The results are surprisingly beautiful (not gimmicky) and unlike anything we’ve seen before. Prices aren’t cheap ($700 or more), but who are we to pass judgment on what counts as true art?

Just ask Tommy Lee.
