Something about Eddie Borgo is familiar.
Could it be the jewelry designer’s wide-ranging aesthetic (tribal, futuristic, geometric, unisex)? His prolific work on the runway (commissioned by Philip Lim, Marchesa, Frank Tell, Camilla Staerk, Jen Kao)? His hipster, gentleman-like stylings?
We can’t place a finger on it, but we’re prepared for his to become a household name.
The art history buff (with no formal jewelry training) researches library archives for inspiration and effortlessly references the costume greats. Culling together a bohemian assortment of stonecutters, casters, and model makers from Providence to Maine, Borgo orchestrates the production of bold bijoux (for guys or girls) in quartz, black onyx, brass, and rubber.
For us, this collection triggers imagery of ancient Egyptians, East Village punks, and ghetto fabulousness. Common shapes and materials take to uncommon heights.
You’ll recognize it when you see it.
