Either you’re getting old, or the poised, dewy-faced girls at the swanky restaurant are really, really young.
Cancel the emergency injections. It’s Lisa Garza’s Junior Supper Club.
Each month, starting May 1, Garza (co-owner of Suze Restaurant and owner of Pantry Organics) will take ten students (ages 10-13) to top eateries around town to expand their palettes and polish their mores. At Tei Tei, preteen patrons sample a Japanese menu and learn to use chopsticks properly; at Charlie Palmer, it’s all about cooking and cutting steak. (Other spots include Fearing’s, Arcodoro & Pomodoro, and Bijoux.)
Chefs and servers take time to identify ingredients responsible for various flavors, upping the youngster’s culinary acumen.
And to explain that some things get better with age.
