Cake It On

Scene: office manager Millie’s 75th birthday celebration.

Cast: preggers Pam, supermom Sally, gay Tom, you.

Backdrop: boardroom table topped with homemade pecan pie, peanut butter cookies, and chocolate fudge.

Scene spoiler: your stale Oreos from the third floor vending machine.

Superhero: D Sweet, a grassroots cake pickup and delivery business based in Lewisville. The treats — cakes, cake balls, cupcakes, and cheesecake — look homemade (read: no fancy frills), so you can pull them off as your own.

Traditional cheesecake with a Nilla wafer crust and gooey caramel and chopped walnut toppings is the best, though people can’t get enough of lemon-strawberry cake with cream cheese icing, either.

Of course, the cupcakes and cakes also come in staple flavors like chocolate, vanilla, coconut, and carrot. Custom orders are available but take at least two days.

What an act.
