It’s 2 a.m. and you’re trolling for tacos. Your well-trod path leads you to Cuquita’s, which, snap, closed last year.
Don’t go Bueno just yet: Hacienda on Henderson, which opens today, picks up where Cuquita’s left off and then some.
There are tacos filled with brisket, grilled tilapia, and veggies (portobello mushrooms, squash). Dessert tacos, too, including one with peanut butter and banana nicknamed “the Elvis.”
Owners Miles Zuniga (Slip Inn, Vickery Park) and Pat Tetrick and Chris Faulkner (Lotus) sultrified the ramshackle old 1940s house with leatherette banquettes, hardwood floors, a tropical mural, and a 2,000-square-foot covered patio with hanging plants and Mexican tiled fountain.
Get there a little early (um, like 1 a.m.) and you can chase your taco with a $5 margarita or one of the dozen beers on tap.
Morning glory.
Hacienda on Henderson, 2326 Henderson Avenue (214-515-9990 or haciendaonhenderson.com).
