Round one: Tyke Tyson takes on an apple.
Tyke enters the kitchen, sizing up his snack. He lunges, grabs it, and takes a voracious bite. Crack! Tyke’s loose front tooth goes flying. It’s a KO, and Mom goes wild!
But Tyke’s not down for the count. Mom sends his befallen pearly white to Oregon artist Kim Kovel of Le Knockout, who makes molds of children’s teeth and fashions them into disarmingly unique jewelry charms.
Styles (available in fourteen- or eighteen-karat yellow or white gold, sterling silver, and gold vermeil) can be engraved with initials, but Mom really wants to pack a punch, so she orders one embellished with Tyke’s birthstone. The use of fair trade and recycled materials makes it an even bigger score.
Tyke flashes a gaped grin when the finished charm and original tooth are returned in two to three weeks. Mom slips the charm onto her favorite chain.
Victory!
