Determining whether that hunk of clay is an ashtray/paperweight/lumpy donut is enough to make you want to fly the coop.
Depart with Pigeon Toe Ceramics instead.
Portland, Oregon-based ceramicist Lisa Jones takes a clean, modern approach to the handmade, turning out a nearly all-white collection of indoor (tabletop accessories) and outdoor (bird feeders, tripod pots) delights. Save for a stripe of sunny yellow glaze on the sweet sugar and creamer set or glossy color interior on espresso stoneware pieces and the porcelain Raw collection.
Aside from the signature Kerr jar planters and votive lantern, our favorites are the latest offerings: porcelain casts of vintage science glass, such as filtering and volumetric flasks and pharmacy bottles.
It’d be wise to nab any of the one-finger mugs, stacking thimble cups, and the double-folded bowls, too.
Just in case you want to feed the birds.
