Crime scene: pencils strewn about. Sharpened, unsharpened, art, and vintage advertising pencils — in every color imaginable.
Suspect: Sue Lowenberg. Former graphic designer who currently creates killer furniture and jewelry.
Background: An avid folk and outsider art collector, Lowenberg gets her kicks from found objects. She once notoriously inherited an antique dining set and meticulously glued colored pencils to the whole shebang.
Accessories to the crime: necklaces and earrings made from pencils and gumball charms, ties constructed of vintage advertising pencils.
Hypothesis: Lowenberg scours everywhere from flea markets to Target to vintage pencil collections for writing utensils and raids alleys for interesting furniture. She chops pencils to bits; refurbishes and repaints the tables; and covers them in intricate, geometric, color-popping arrangements. She does custom work, too. Bring her an old table, and she’ll render it unrecognizable.
Warning: Suspect is dangerously talented. Not to mention sharp.
