Marlowe and Me

marlowe!

The butchery craze kinda makes you want to go ballistic on beef.

But let’s be real: You’re not the ax murderer type.

Instead, head to Marlowe, opening today in SoMa’s old South space. Named for the proprietor’s great grandfather’s butcher shop, Marlowe pays homage to the trade (apron-clad staff, daily specials scrawled on butcher’s paper).

Chef Jennifer Puccio’s menu is Cali fresh: Meyer lemon-spiked Brussels sprouts chips or more substantial meals like baked oysters, bone marrow with salsa verde, spiced shrimp with boozy cocktail sauce, or roast chicken with herb puree.

The restaurant’s comfy-cool, with white-washed brick, reclaimed wood tables, and chalkboard drawings of animals.

Marlowe’s Twitter disciples helped pick the quotes that cover the front windows.

Now that’s a cut above the rest.
