Kids are weirdos.
Some have imaginary friends; others eat only white food. Jennie Bishop used to refrigerate her pillow before nap time.
Today she (with help from sis, Katie) is the hands behind Thieverie, a local pillow and bag label. An interior designer by day (you can trust her taste), she also moonlights in her apartment with her sewing machine.
Bishop’s affection for pillows runs deep (her grandma gave her a homemade one when she was born). When crafting them, she uses awesome, affordable fabrics like woven leather, feather fringe, and sunbursts.
The clutches are simple envelope shapes in a variety of embossed, gold-flecked, soft leathers. Because she leaves the hide’s natural contour on the flap, every bag is different.
Custom orders are totally doable.
Just ask like a grown-up.
Available at the Bess & Loie Pop-Up Shop, April 14-18, at 1117 West Armitage Avenue, between Seminary and Clifton Avenues; online at thieverie.com, $70-$250.
