You got her a library card before her eyes could even focus. But selecting good picture books with an antsy toddler in tow? Forget about it.
Unless you sign up for BookTree, a service that selects, delivers, collects, and replaces a monthly tote of picture books for your tot. The ingenious preschool program recently expanded to inlcude nine public drop-off points, including Noe Valley, North Point, Potrero Hill, Pacific Heights, and two sites downtown.
Enroll online, where your budding reader will be assigned a track (there are six) based on the month and year of her birth to ensure a well-tailored array of books. Then there’s little to do but enjoy the selections. Once a month, you simply note any feedback on an enclosed form, then swap the tote for a fresh one.
If you recruit enough parental types in your office, BookTree will consider adding your workplace as a drop-off point, eliminating one more errand from your to-do list. And getting you home in time for a good-night story.
BookTree (415-469-9944 or booktree.us). Drop-off locations include Paragraph, 1234 9th Avenue, between Lincoln Way and Irving Street (415-759-1234); ArtWorks Fine Art Studio, 360 West Portal Avenue, between 14th and 15th Avenues (415-759-5757). Cost is $24 per month; first month free.
