Girl’s got moves.
Ann Yee does not concern herself with hanger appeal. The 28-year-old Michigan native — who launched her eponymous line in fall 2009 and still holds down a 9-to-5 — would rather think about real bodies. Yee doesn’t shy away from architectural, seemingly intimidating constructions, but through some sleight of hand (the deft draping skills she learned as a knitwear designer for LaRok, Elizabeth and James, etc.) she makes billowing bat-wing sleeves, dramatic cowl-necks, and voluminous multi-layer dresses flattering. And we love that she puts pockets on practically everything she designs.
