It’s not you, it’s Them.
Already running a bespoke jeans operation, collective creative studio, and biannual arts magazine from under the Sunset Boulevard overpass, huzzy-and-wife design team Olga Nazarova and Brian Kim (remember him from Work custom denim?) have introduced a readily available line of unboring basics.
Soft drop-needle sweaters, sheer tanks, and skinny jeans (pictured) are the signature look here. Beyond the denim collection that all goes for under $100, it’s the tinted, thin hemp jersey tees for spring and the collaborations with collage artist Leslie Shows you’ll want to watch for.
Each style has been deconstructed, refined, and reconstructed for a clean silhouette loaded with subtle details that lend sophistication and edge. Materials are chosen not just for their immediate wearability, but also for the way they break in over time, so the natural distressing process is left up to you.
Them Atelier, 1160 Glendale Boulevard, between Park Avenue and Montana Street, Echo Park (213-413-6666 or thematelier.com), $45-$95.
