1. Make your kid the official trip photographer.
Supply your mini paparazzo with a disposable camera and let her snap away. Use the roll to create an awesome album from your tot’s viewpoint. Watch as her perspective grows from year to year.

2. Create a sound track for your journey.
Prepare for impromptu family dance parties on the road with a mix of kid-friendly travel tunes like Renee & Jeremy’s “It’s a Big World” and Ladybug Music’s “Coming Down with the Lemonade.” When you get home, just press play to be transported back to the big adventure.

3. Build a vacation time capsule.
Take a container to stuff with little mementos that capture the sights, smells, and sounds of your voyage: a shell, artisan necklace, wristband, or local flower. Pack it away for future reminiscing or display it on the fireplace mantel: It’s a vacation in a box.
