A Saturday in the life of a second-trimester first-time mom-to-be with nothing going but a baby in her belly and time on her hands.
(Cue sunrise, chirping birds, and enviable burst of energy.)
Morningish: Wake up whenever. Nudge partner under the covers. Request a cup of decaf coffee, pronto. Enjoy the entire New York Times in bed.
Later in the morningish: Pop in The Bar Method Pregnancy Workout DVD ($20). Gently strengthen abs and thighs for 45 uninterrupted minutes while admiring recently popped belly.
Noon: Where has the day gone? Must shower and attend to bump. No stretch marks yet, thanks to California Baby’s Nourishing Emulsion and Cream ($20 each) with organic cocoa butter, mimosa flowers, and pure essential oils.
Early afternoon: Get dressed for an afternoon of me time. What’s it going to be today? Comfy DL1961 ankle-length skinny maternity jeans ($158) that didn’t need to be shortened (natch)? Or the Pouch versatile maternity dress ($84) that can be worn as a halter, a tube dress, or over-the-shoulder style? Hmph, decisions!
Mid afternoon: Time for a break. First stop, Nameberry.com, the recently relaunched site with a continuously updating cloud of the most popular baby names. Olivia? Kate? William? There’s still plenty of time to figure it out.
Not so late in the evening: It’s off to bed to dream about a custom (and affordable) nursery from designer Susan Hutchinson at Nesting. The online interior design biz provides full-service attention via phone and Internet.
Baby cooking is exhausting — and tomorrow is another day.
