Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth
What:
The Chicago artist (not Bad Seed crooner) shows more than 50 wearable, color-saturated, music-making Soundsuits.
Why: Local dancers inhabit the multimedia sculptures (covered in rainbow fur, human hair, twigs, and buttons) and come to life spontaneously during the exhibition, both inside the museum and out.
When: Thru June 5. Wed., Sat. & Sun., 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thurs. & Fri., 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Check SAM’s Twitter feed for “invasions.”

What:
The much-lauded performance art troupe’s first museum exhibition uses outlandish costumes, video clips, sculpture, and stills from its dreamlike shows.
Why: Warrior princesses, ninjas, and The Hidden One, “a giant, glowing girl theater deftly combining the characters of Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf.”
