’Tis the season for fug sweaters, awkward hometown encounters with high school chums, and office-party faux pas.
When all else fails, we can at least make sure our makeup looks good.
Done. In today’s video, Birchbox’s brilliant Mollie Chen shows us a few ways to touch up and brighten our face postwork, preparty — all in less than five minutes. From her favorite eyeliners and gloss to why it’s better to wear a brightening powder than a translucent one, Chen knows her stuff.
While we had the Birchbox ladies in our office, we also asked co-founder Katia Beauchamp (whose hair always looks amazing) to show us how to create a cool cocktail party-ready updo. All it takes is a few minutes, dry shampoo, some pins, and elastic.
You know, the same thing we’ll need around our waistline after tomorrow.

One look at Ronaldo, Donovan, Kaká, or Drogba, and it’s easy to see why you should follow soccer. (If you don’t get it, do some Google image searches immediately.)
Hot guys aside, soccer is the most popular sport on Earth (except here, for some puzzling reason), and the World Cup starts June 11, meaning the sports bars will be filled with people shouting “Ole!” To help you understand that, and other soccer-specific things, we asked three fútbol nerd friends to give us a quick but comprehensive overview (emphasis on quick).
If this whets your appetite, visit FIFA’s website for player interviews, game schedules, and news. You’ll be saying things like “Maradona should’ve kept Zanetti on the roster” in no time.
Want to take these facts on the road? We made you a handy cheat sheet. If you’re in New York, check out our gallery of the best places to watch the games.

The Employees Only bartenders have been on the pouring side of more tipsy evenings than we can remember. Literally. And now that they’re selling their own brand of cocktail mixers, you can emulate their best-in-the-biz cocktails at home. Near your bed. Which is good.
In today’s videos, they teach you how to make the perfect gin gimlet (above), tequila daisy, and upgraded Tom Collins — using their new, all-natural lime cordial and/or grenadine.
The mixers are almost tasty enough to guzzle on their own. They’re made with real pomegranate and lime and sweetened with sugar and agave nectar, not high-fructose corn syrup.
We hear more flavors are on the way, but for now they’re keeping ’em an employees-only secret.
Available at Employees Only, 510 Hudson Street, between Christopher and West 10th Streets (212-242-3021 or employeesonlynyc.com). For more great recipes, check out our Drunk Punch Love photo gallery.

You have the swimsuit. Now you just need the body. Tracy Anderson, the fitness expert responsible for multiple famous physiques (Gwynnie, Madonna), can get you there.
Here are four videos, all featuring an Anderson-designed exercise targeting the perpetually annoying areas: love handles (above), saggy butt, flabby abs, and bat wings.
We won’t lie: The moves are a lot harder than they look, especially when you’re doing 40 reps. But we’re game for anything to make that walk from towel into ocean a little less dreadful.

We could hate them for being so perfect — if married musicians Josh Ritter and Dawn Landes weren’t so nice. They had us at “Hello. How about some coffee?” and barely batted an eye when we invaded their adorable Brooklyn apartment to shoot this week’s video.
The low-key, stylish couple — who are about to celebrate their first anniversary — set up a guitar and keyboard in their kitchen and performed “Southern Pacifica.” It’s off Ritter’s album So Runs the World Away, coming out May 4.
Both Ritter and Landes (whose album Sweet Heart Rodeo came out in January) have a folksy, borderline country sound we can’t get enough of. And they both sing about love — in a sweet, noncheesy way — a lot. It must be nice living with your muse.
