Halloween Safety Tips from P.E.A.C.E. of Mind

Spooked by trick-or-treating? Don’t be.

Whether you’re accompanying the pumpkin on his candy-gathering excursion or he’s headed out with friends (and their parents), keep him safe with tips from Kim Estes of local nonprofit Parent Education and Child Empowerment (a.k.a. P.E.A.C.E. of Mind).

1. The buddy system is required. Kids shouldn’t go it alone, no matter what.

2. Tell them to never enter a home, even if it’s decked out as a fun haunted house.

3. Insist that they stick to a designated, Mom-approved route.

4. Review and practice your name, address, and phone number with your kids, in case of emergency.

And lastly, remind them that they’d better not think of coming home without a Snickers for Mommy.

What: Explore a variety of fun art projects with your munchkin.
Why: Creativity is the spice of life.

Kindermusik Halloween at Benaroya Hall
What: Introduce them to the symphony with a concerto for minis. Costumes encouraged.
Why: You’re all dressed up with some place to go.
When: Sat., 10 a.m. & 11 a.m.

BAKE
Ultimate Holiday Cookie Recipe Search
What: Submit your kiddo’s favorite recipe for a chance to have your cookies served at Four Seasons Hotel Seattle through the holidays (not to mention an overnight stay for you and your main squeeze).
Why: ’Tis the season.
When: Sun.-Dec. 1.
