the insider's guide to all things mini in your city
What to expect? The scoop on everything fun, fashionable,
and cool for under-8 crowd (and their parents).
In your kiddo’s wildest fantasy, broccoli is banned and mac ’n’ cheese is a food group.
But for some less fortunate, having anything to eat is a dream.
Help serve the hungry with The Empty Bowl Project, organized by the nonprofit Open Hand. You can participate in two easy (and fun) ways.
One: For $12, paint a ceramic soup bowl at Wired & Fired. Brilliant colors, stamps, and stencils are at your disposal.
Two: Buy a bowl for $20 on select days at Murphy’s restaurant and fill it with a signature soup (think roasted eggplant and tomato with spicy croutons). You keep the bowl; Open Hand uses the proceeds to fight hunger and deliver healthy meals to those affected by critical illness.
That’s food for thought.
Bowl painting through November 15 at Wired & Fired, 994 Virginia Avenue, Virginia Highland (404-885-1024 or wiredfired.com). Lunches take place November 18 and 19, 11 a.m., at Murphy’s, 997 Virginia Avenue, Virginia Highland (404-872-0904 or murphysvh.com). For more information, go to projectopenhand.org.
