But Pity Paul is accident prone and never leaves home without a first aid kit. Hilly Billy wears a cape, eye mask, and hair gel. And Fufu has a crown on her head, loves to tango, and goes weak for pirates.

Undesirable playmates? Nope, just part of a collection of fourteen dolls from the Danish company RoomMate. The 100 percent cotton rag dolls measure a little over a foot tall, look nothing like the rest of the cookie-cutter belles on the shelf, and have quirky backstories.

No doubt you’ll come to love them as much as your kid does.
