A Photographic Trip to Starved Rock State Park

Junior posed in a pumpkin patch and mugged in a corn maze. Expand his fall photo album at Starved Rock State Park, a forested paradise two hours southwest of Chicago.

When you seek out these sights, fun really develops.

Start at Starved Rock Lodge and say “cheese” next to the lobby’s stuffed black bear. Then lead your pack on the forest trail to French Canyon, where a waterfall cascades over rocky terrain.

Motor to the nearby visitor center and zoom in on the life-size Native American-themed diorama and the Illinois River lock and dam.

Back at the lodge, make the homemade fudge sold at Starved Rock Cafe your focus.

You’ll devour it in a flash.
