Takeout Picnic Ideas

You can’t stand the heat. So get out of the kitchen with these takeout picnics.

Select dinner for four (pulled pork, beef brisket, or barbecue chicken or pork) with sides (baked beans, corn on the cob, cornbread, and coleslaw) from Bulldog Barbecue (15400 Biscayne Boulevard, Aventura; 305-940-9655). Then haul your haul to Haulover Park beach.

Take sandwiches (chicken salad, Cubano) or salads (Asian grilled chicken and noodle, Cobb) from Jimmy’z Kitchen (1542 Alton Road, Miami Beach; 305-534-8216) to Flamingo Park or the beach.

Wednesdays, 6:30-11 p.m., Michy’s (6927 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami; 305-759-2001) packs five pieces of chef Michelle Bernstein’s delectable fried chicken with biscuits and gravy, coleslaw, and watermelon Greek salad for $27. It’s walking distance to the bay breezes of Legion Park.
