SadieDey’s Cafe Opens

Some think you can have your cake and eat it, too.

At SadieDey’s Cafe, everyone gets a bite. Owner Sue Older-Mondeel has transformed Oakland’s former Tumble & Tea into a mom-and-tot hotspot. The indoor play area — where trains, a jungle gym, and a castle keep kids amused — also has grown-up amenities like good coffee, free Wi-Fi, and a killer BLTA (that’s with avocado).

Sing-alongs, puppet shows, and fam-friendly events make for a warm community vibe. And don’t miss Mother’s Helper hours: From 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays, energetic entertainer Case Conover diverts tykes with stories and games while you catch up with a friend or check e-mail.

Easy as pie.
