Road Trip to Portland

If you’re jonesin’ for a getaway but running low on vacation days, pack up the clan for a quick trip to Portland.

Little ones on edge after three hours in their car seats? Let them stretch their legs with a visit to the Portland Children’s Museum’s (4015 Southwest Canyon Road, Portland; 503-223-6500) new Baby’s Garden, a 1,000-square-foot room for kids (6 months-3 years) to chase, climb, hide, snoop, and play until they drop.

Pushing the stroller all day doesn’t do anything for your back (ouch). Treat yourself to a massage at the family-friendly Zenana Spa and Wellness Center (2024 Southeast Clinton Street, Portland; 503-238-6262). Kiddos are cared for in the children’s center while you take a load off.

Before heading home, stop for some sweetness at Saint Cupcake (407 Northwest 17th Avenue, Portland; 503-473-8760). The bakery is known for its homemade, small-batch treats.

And pray that you’re blessed with a quiet ride back.
