[In a gravelly voice] A romantic drama. A timeless tale. A story of love and devotion that will overcome all the odds. This … is BrokeFridge Mountain.
Films on Fridges, an outdoor cinema made entirely from discarded refrigerator doors, pops up tomorrow until 13 August on Fish Island near Olympic Park. When East London’s renowned Fridge Mountain (the largest in Europe) was dismantled to make way for the 2012 Games, creative enthusiasts at Scout Limited saw the opportunity to create a theatre from the debris.
Beyond raising awareness of waste and environmental responsibility, the pop-up project will pay tribute to the spirit of the Olympics by screening sporting classics such as Rocky and Cool Runnings, as well as athletically themed indie gems.
It’s the ideal freeze-frame.
