A Japanese restaurant that doesn’t serve sushi? Sounds suspicious.
Trust us. There’s (practically) nothing fishy about Satsuma.
The recently relaunched resto from the Royal China Group (its only non-Chinese offering) specialises in katsu (deep-fried cutlets) including scallop, chicken, broccoli, prawn, pork and oyster, as well as fourteen types of authentic katsu curry served with sticky rice, soba or udon noodles.
If fried isn’t your thing (though the batter is irresistibly light and crispy), opt for a salad laced with ginger dressing, a teriyaki dish or maki rolls. Finish with ice cream — green tea, tempura with chocolate sauce, or black and white sesame.
And if it’s fish you’re missing, sitting in a futuristic orange pod-style seat feels a bit like you’ve been swallowed by one.
Personally, we’re hooked.
