Catching a taxi this time of year can be a competitive sport.

Download it to your iPhone, iPad or Android for free (BlackBerry and Windows phone coming soon), and it tracks your location to find the nearest black cab. Pay with a credit card on your mobile device (or cash once the cab arrives), and you’ll get an estimated arrival time along with license plate details, a direct dial button and a photo (you never know, he might be cute).

Right now the Transport for London-approved service has more than 2,000 registered black cabs on board, with more added every day. It’s safe and simple.
