A Spanish restaurant without tapas? No way, José.
Yes, it’s true. Chef/owner José Pizarro opens a traditional, rustic spot called Pizarro tomorrow in Bermondsey, down the road from José, his popular tapas and sherry bar.
Expect bigger, heartier dishes like rabbit stew; wild sea bass with chorizo; baby pumpkin stuffed with goat cheese, pomegranate and almonds; as well as José favourites, such as jamon Ibérico and croquettes. Pizarro uses British seasonal ingredients whenever possible (don’t miss the daily market menu) and specialist products imported from Spain.
Despite a no-reservation policy (except for the private room, which seats twelve), the wait shouldn’t be too long, thanks to multiple booths, communal tables and a bar for those dining on their own.
Oh, and DailyCandy readers get 50 per cent off until Monday.
You’d better believe it.
