Pistol Packers

Ever fancied the Brazilian thing but don’t have the guts to go all the way?

Swimwear, people. Not pubic hair.

Pistol Panties designer Deborah Fleming was born in Paris and raised in Miami — which makes her as much an expert on beach chic as the girls in Ipanema.

Her just-opened shop on Westbourne Park Road is a stylish hut filled with the full range of her swimwear (bikini tops that honour even the smallest of cleavages with matching rah-rah bottoms and frilly skirts), as well things to wear to show it off — vintage kaftans and jewellery sourced by the people at Rellik, up the road.

Pistol Panties designs are kitsch yet sultry with a touch of Brazilian flair. Inspirations include such diverse icons as Joan Collins and Tinkerbell, resulting in a look that Fleming describes as ‘Agent Provocateur meets Walt Disney’.

Incidentally, Fleming is half Colombian. That’s close enough to Brazil to bring you a step closer to your inner Rio.

Who knows? Next time you may go all the way.
