Sorry, snapping up stacks of £1 bangles at the market doesn’t count. When you want something more individual, you need to look a little further.

Like to Pimlico, where @Work Gallery just opened a lighter, brighter branch of its East End original. Both exhibition spaces-cum-shops preview and sell slick contemporary jewellery by hot new names like Clevin Jensen, Rhonda Khulman, and Kate Hodgson, alongside handcrafted ceramics and funky glassware by Michael Ruh and Alice Mara. And the stock changes constantly, making return trips a must.

It’s not quite enough to make you burst into song.

But you may find yourself inclined to whistle while you work.
