A Life Less Ordinary

Average. C Grade. Mediocre. Conventional.

Eeeuugh. Who wants to be any of those?

Thankfully, some people take it upon themselves to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. Like the team behind ‘Ordering the Ordinary’, a collection of works that goes on show today at the Timothy Taylor Gallery. The theme? Transforming everyday, mundane objects (nails, pins, a stone, a mirror) into something new and altogether brilliant.

There are eighteen high-profile artists involved — both emerging and established — including Jasper Johns, Ed Ruscha, Fiona Rae and Lawrence Weiner. Have a gander at these, and if you find yourself imagining strange, exciting things the next time you look at a paper clip, be glad.

It’s not normal.

Timothy Taylor Gallery, 24 Dering Street, W1 (020 7409 3344 or timothytaylorgallery.com). On display until  August 31st.
