What a Pair

Sam’s Brasserie

Confusing a brassiere with a brasserie is a common mistake, but there are some subtle differences.

One should feel great to touch, the other to taste. One holds you up, while the other should seat you immediately. One covers a couple of tempting items, the other should offer many.

And Sam’s Brasserie has a veritable smorgasbord. We’re talking Page 3 tasty here — the menu is vast, and so are the portions. Choose from wholesome fare such as French toast with crispy bacon and caramelised apples, braised English duck or scrambled eggs with Serrano ham.

The new all-day restaurant is big and airy, with butcher block-topped tables, mini leather banquettes, a piano for those who fancy a tinkle on the ivories and a magician on weekends for children.

And the man behind it all is Sam Harrison, who managed Rick Stein’s Padstow restaurant for years. (So faithful to his student is Stein, he’s an investor and godfather to the business).

The brasserie opens this week, but if you want a table, you should book ahead.

With such an impressive couple of beauties behind it, Sam’s will have no problem pulling in the punters.
