Posh Nosh
The Thomas Cubitt Pub Opens

Man-made islands. Giant tree houses. Private submarines.
Some people can’t help having grand designs.
Take Thomas Cubitt for instance: a 19th-century architect responsible for some of the smartest buildings in London. So grand was Cubitt, he even designed the east front of Buckingham Palace. And today a new pub opens in his honour: The Thomas Cubitt.
This gastro hang-out pays homage to the hero in style. In addition to large wooden tables, roaring fires and a jolly good jar of ale, there’s fancy fayre on offer both upstairs and down: a pear and caramelised onion tart, a punchy roasted sea trout, a generous assiette de charcuterie. If you want to go really large, take advantage of the huge helpings of roast turkey and brandy-filled Christmas pudding being served this yule-tide.
Grand? Let’s put it this way.
Kevin McCloud would be proud.
