Take Ennis and Jack or Homer and Marge; some couples really do look great together.

New Yorkers Jessie Randall and husband Bryan Murphy, owners of shoe line Loeffler Randall, also make a lovely pair; in fact, they make many — in soft napa leather, rich suede and embossed snake skin.

Choose from assorted ballet shoes, knee-high boots and peep toes in colours like molasses, cognac and bright apple green. Loeffler Randall’s heels are neither too high nor too flat, so you can walk them all over town without the need for plasters/a chauffeur/an osteopath.

If two’s company and three’s a crowd, let’s hope this lot can handle the approaching onslaught.
