Choc Star Mobile Chocolate Bar

Mobile. Not everyone’s favourite word, especially when someone’s yelling into theirs at the seat/table next to you.

But here’s one that might be a little more welcome: the Choc Star van. This mobile chocolate bar can be found at the entrance to Brick Lane’s UpMarket every Sunday and the East Greenwich Food Market on the last Saturday of every month.

The charming (and infectiously enthusiastic) owner and driver of this vehicle is Petra Barran, who trained at Pierre Marcolini. This girl believes chocolate is good for you. From her trusty van (which she bought unseen on eBay) she sells everything chocolate: banana waffles with Grand Cru Valrhona chocolate sauce, walnut fudge brownies, spicy Venezuelan hot chocolate shots (which make you ‘wired’), soft and squidy chocolate chip cookies, Malteser milkshakes and organic ice cream and sorbet in the summer.

Petra and her Choc Star bar will travel when required for private parties, weddings, village fetes, circuses and lit fests to spread chocolate all over the land.

What a good move.
