Take the Fowlers or the Mitchells; some families never leave their ’hood.
Now London’s East End has another clan to contend with. Back in 1985, when Old Street was still more sliced-white than PĂ´ilane, Angela Flanders established one of London’s first original perfumeries in the area; to which international ‘noses’ have been flocking ever since. And today her daughter, Kate Evans, opens Precious, a new shop in the nearby (and just as fragrant) Spitalfields.
A former fashion buyer for Harrods and Harvey Nichols, Evans has created an elegant, old-style salon selling clothing by Diane von Furstenberg, Day Birger et Mikkelsen and Gharani Strok, with accessories from Mulberry and Megan Park. All of which are sold alongside her mother’s eau de parfums, bath essences and candles.
If only Peggy Mitchell’s offspring were as loyal.
