It’s your round — again. Six pints of lager or a bottle of chardonnay?
Why not skip the beer (and the belly) and sip something more interesting? Like a refreshing iced Georgia mint julep, for example, or a pineapple and sage mojito. Or what about a kick-ass fruit punch served in an antique crystal bowl with matching cocktail glasses?
You’ll find such sophisticated beverages at Hawksmoor, which opens today. It’s the latest venture from the successful duo Huw Gott and Will Beckett (current co-owners of Green & Red in Shoreditch), with cocktail impresario Nick Strangeway presiding over one of the most innovative menus in town. And once you’ve worked your way through his extensive list of liquid refreshments, you’ll have built up quite an appetite.
Lucky, then, that the place is also a steakhouse. Chomp on grilled veal steaks and lamb chops with homemade mayonnaise, triple-cooked chips, baked sweet potatoes, generous salads and creamy slaws, followed by old-fashioned ice cream sundaes.
And if that’s not enough, you can always go back to the bar for a round.
Again.
