Take the High Road

High Road House Opens

high style!

You’ve tried shopping. Gambling. Sex.

And still — nothing.

For a more effective pick-me-up, take a trip to High Road House. The latest from Nick Jones is just as sexy as the rest of his establishments, which, if you didn’t already know (do wake up), include The Electric, Soho House and Cowshed Spa.

Like its predecessors, High Road House serves those who like to work while they play while they talk while they eat while they watch while they earn while they spend. And it does so rather well, with laptop stations, plasma screens, the Playroom (with pool table, board games and sports screenings) and the Playpen (a comfy sofa area where people can chill with ES and a soya latte).

Yes, you do have to be a member to enjoy it all. But for those who a) applied, got rejected and are still pissed off about it or b) don’t give a toss about exclusive memberships, the Brasserie, on the ground floor, serves breakfast (cereals, pastries, kippers on toast), lunch (lobster and chips, Pyrenean black pig chop) and dinner (courgette and basil soup, roast suckling pig).

If you’re not high after that, you check into one of the fourteen supremely posh bedrooms upstairs.

And when you come back down to earth, well, there’s always the Harrods sale.

High Road House, 162 Chiswick High Road, W4 1PR (020 8742 1717 or highroadhouse.co.uk); The Brasserie (020 8742 7474).
