Tara Matthews Swimwear

They call it a secluded hideaway. What they really mean is that it’s hard to get to. And once you find it, hundreds of half-naked bodies will already be there, checking everyone else out.

So if you’re venturing anywhere near the beach, spend a little time (and in this case rather a lot of cash) on your wardrobe.

Tara Matthews bikinis are the crème de la crème of 2006 swimwear, and they probably travel more than you do. They’re made in Brazil, then hand-embellished with fine gold and silver threads, beads and semi-precious stones in India. At around £250 a go, they cost more than your EasyJet flight, but they’ll leave a better impression on the harshest poolside critic.

Body conscious? This season, Mathews launched a new range of funky cover-ups, including the Tareo, a versatile strapless wrap. (Her skull-and-crossbones sundress is also a winner.)

A percentage of all sales are donated to Disha, a charity that helps underprivileged children in Calcutta. See? You’re not only profligate but also very kind and worldly.

So why should you hide yourself away?
