Travel: Where to Go Gourmet

And so DailyCandy concludes its August meanderings. This week, a tasty break: our favourite places to go gourmet.

The Hinds Head
What: Heston Blumenthal’s more casual (but just as genius) other place.
Why: It’s a bit easier to book here than at The Fat Duck — but only just.
Bring: An open mind. You’ve never had Scotch eggs like these.
Where: Bray, Berkshire (01628 626151).

Villa Bordoni
What:
Sleepy Tuscan villa run by a charming Scottish couple.
Why: The pasta here is to die for.
Bring: Walking shoes for vineyard excursions at sunset.
Where: Greve-in-Chianti, Tuscany (+39-05-58-84-00-04).

Cotswold House
What:
Stylish boutique hotel that serves the best in home-grown local produce.
Why: It’s a refreshing alternative to the usual country pub.
Bring: Binoculars — lots of fit actors live around here.
Where: Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire (01386 840330).

L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon
What: Super chef’s brand new outpost just opened in Manhattan’s Four Seasons.
Why: You can’t eat muffins from Dean & DeLuca for every meal.
Bring: A cushion — you’ll be sitting for a while.
Where: New York City, USA (+1-212-350-6658).
