Country Casual

Bumpkin Opens

The dream: green fields, Wellies, fresh air, your own veg patch.

The reality: concrete, traffic, another microwave meal from Tesco.

If your life is more weekday than weekend, head to Bumpkin. The restaurant, which opens on Westbourne Park Road on Wednesday, is dedicated to sustainable and traceable, good-for-you food. The latest from the team behind Boujis, Volstead and Eclipse, Bumpkin should more than please the crowds.

Set over three floors in what feels like a modern country house (vibrant wallpaper, oak tabletops and antique furniture), Bumpkin is open daily for dinner and serves brunch on weekends. For dinner there’s free range chicken with lavender and lemon, toad in the hole, and bashed neeps and carrots, followed by poached pears with chocolate custard, apple crumble and seasonal cheeses. Brunch includes full English breakfast, fresh kedgeree, doorstep bacon sarnies and granola.

Scoff some country grub to indulge your most bumpkinsome cravings.

Without having to take the Land Rover anywhere near the M25.

Bumpkin, 209 Westbourne Park Road, W11 1EA (020 7243 9818 or bumpkinuk.com).
