Diana, Camilla, William, the Queen; we all love a good Sloane ranger.
This stalwart breed honoured the nation from the start: the original, Sir Hans Sloane (they named the square after him), discovered cocoa on a research trip to Jamaica and St. Kitts and brought chocolate to Britain.
Skip forward a few centuries: Kitts nightclub, which opened yesterday on Sloane Square, comes from a trio of rangers: Duncan Stirling, Charlie Gilkes and interior designer Ed Godrich.
It’s all jolly cool fun; inside you’ll find colourful light box walls, art installations and sparkling disco lights, with the poinciana (St. Kitts’s national flower) featured everywhere.
Open from 10 p.m. ’til late, Kitts offers exotic cocktails like the chocolatey Hans Sloane and the fruity Colonial Breeze. Bar snacks are chips with caviar, Cajun chicken or foie gras croque monsieur.
You have to be a member, or be with one, to enter this establishment. But it’ll be worth it.
Just remember to leave your Barbour at home.
