Super Market

Daylesford Organic Opens

Q. Pastures green, bleating lambs and buttered Aga toast begin with what?

A. Multiple tailbacks on the M25.

Pining for the countryside? Take a short trip to Daylesford Organic’s new three-storey London outpost, opening tomorrow in Pimlico. Modelled on Carole Bamford’s phenomenally popular Gloucestershire store, it’ll undoubtedly be just as heaving (i.e., social).

Expect usual Bamford perfection: spotless interiors, immaculate presentation and top-notch fare. On the ground floor, the market-style deli sells bread (baked on-site in Daylesford dry-stone ovens), fruit, veg, meat, fish and cheese, plus cakes, pies and patés, with a bakery counter and cafe serving hearty meals and snacks.

Upstairs are larder essentials, whilst the lower ground sells kitchen and gardening equipment and biodynamic, organic and nonorganic wines.

Visit on a Saturday and you’ll find Pimlico’s weekly farmers market abuzz across the road.

What’s that you hear?

The distant sound of contented bleating?
