You’d do it all if you didn’t have such cold feet.

Warm them up in a pair of Perilla’s toasty socks. Available for both men and women, they’re made from British alpaca (similar to the llama, but softer), so the wool has a low prickle factor — according to Sandra Morton, Perilla’s owner (ex-fashion model and mother of three) — and is astonishingly warm.

The result? Seriously soft socks for work, rest and play in colours like red, mulberry, indigo, navy, cream and apricot. They’re not so bulky that they won’t fit under wellies or shoes, but they are thicker than your average cotton numbers (and they’re machine washable). Flying? Perilla’s bed socks beat any cattle class towelling offering — feet down.

There are also wraps and scarves; in case you worry you’ll get it in the neck if you take the big jump.
