Here’s a sure winner: Sumfortune, a new shoe label from Shirley Sum and Cynthia Fortune Rainey, two London-based designers who met at Cordwainers in 1999. After gaining experience at Jimmy Choo Couture (Sum) and motherhood (Fortune), the pair have launched their own line.

For S/S there are ankle boots with python-skin collars (perfect with minis and skinnies alike), suede pumps with bleached python trim and striped cork wedges, all from £250.

The price may be higher than your average stiletto, but the quality’s second to none. And they’ll carry you through many a season.
