Packed lunch in the park? How common.
Wouldn’t you rather do déjeuner sur l’herbe?
You can, at The Albion, which opens for lunch and dinner in Islington on Monday.
It’s the first solo venture for Richard Turner, who’s had a hand in Tapas Brindisa, The Club Bar & Dining and Automat. Inhabiting a Georgian pub originally built in 1834, it’s also home to a large English country garden that seats up to 120 people.
Food is seasonal and English, so expect dishes like potted duck, smoked haddock with bubble and squeak or shepherd’s pie. Follow with rhubarb crumble or sticky toffee pudding.
There’ll be barbecues and spit roasts in the garden throughout the summer. If it’s raining, the pub’s chic pale blue interior provides an equally tranquil refuge from the outdoors.
Fancy a viewing?
It’s bound to leave a great impression.
